Dave's Fresh Marketplace is Hiring a Meat Cutter Near Multiple Locations, RI

POSITION SUMMARY

A Dave’s Fresh Marketplace Meat Cutter is responsible for providing a high level of customer service and practicing safe food handling procedures. This position is also responsible for all aspects of work within the meat department. Meat Cutters are consistently handling raw meat and poultry products. Responsibilities include wrapping, stocking, rotating, cutting, grinding, and labeling all items within the meat department. Meat Cutters are also responsible for providing excellent customer service and assisting customers with recommendations and special orders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· One (1) year meat department experience preferred

· Successfully pass a Dave’s Fresh Marketplace meat cutting test

· Must be 18 years of age or older

· Must be comfortable with customer facing interactions

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

· Ensuring that customers receive outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment – includes greeting and acknowledging customers, smiling, making eye contact, and all other components of customer service

· Maintaining an awareness of all meat products on sale – I.E., Weekly Ad meat items

· Sustains a high level of product knowledge and product preparation – I.E., cutting and cooking techniques

· Responsible for cutting meat according to trim specifications and guidelines

· Cutting gloves, such as Kevlar gloves, must be worn on non-cutting hand while cutting any product. This policy is mandatory

· Assists in unloading and stocking merchandise; displays and maintains in-stock conditions

· Properly wraps, weighs, and labels products

· Rotates product and pays particular attention to code dates; maintains a fresh and appealing appearance throughout the department

· React to depleted areas of the display cases and put together a cutting list

· Maintains the organization, stacking, and rotating of all meat and poultry products in the cooler and freezer

· Maintain a well-organized meat backroom, which will aid in the efficiency of receiving and storing of deliveries

· Ensures proper temperatures in all cooler/freezer cases

· Awareness of food allergens; able to answer customer questions regarding food allergens

· Take customer special orders with accuracy: both by phone and in-person

· Control shrink through adherence to policies and procedures

· Maintains clear communication with management

· Notifies management of pricing discrepancies

· Assists Meat Manager as needed

· Assists with shelf stocking, organizing, and cleaning as required

· Cleans and sanitizes work areas as directed – I.E., tables, floors, walls, cases, coolers, freezers, work surfaces

· Follows all safety, health, and Weights & Measures regulations; monitors temperatures within cooler, freezer, and cases on regular basis

· Completes all logs as required

· Strict adherence to all Food Safety & Sanitation procedures

· Maintain strict adherence to Dave’s Marketplace recipes

· Assists in the training of Meat Clerks and Cutters

· Strictly adheres to the Ground Meat Policy. Ground beef is the number one selling product in the meat case; therefore, it is important to provide the best quality and safest product

· Adherence to department-specific dress code policy

· Maintain strict adherence to the Coding Policy

· Adhering to all Dave’s Fresh Marketplace policies, procedures, and practices including signing, pricing, and loss prevention

· Performing other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Proper handling of equipment such as knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, and hand trucks

· Effective customer service skills, ensuring customer satisfaction

· Willingness to collaborate and work well in a team environment

· Ability to follow directions

· Willing to learn various cutting tasks as directed by Meat Manager

· Ability to perform repetitious activities

· Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and stay organized

· Ability to solve practical problems

· Highly motivated – ability to successfully work in a fast-paced environment

· Able to provide/receive constructive feedback

· Reliable and dependable; able to work a flexible schedule – including weekends

· Must be willing to participate in further job training – I.E., food safety training

· Ability to lift up to 3 lbs. constantly, 10-60 lbs. frequently, up to 92 lbs. occasionally
