We are the experts in our industry.The Armor Operator at Dekoron Wire & Cable, Inc. (Dekoron) is responsible for setting up and running all armor products @ Dekoron.

This will include wire, strap, and continuous welded armors. The Armor Operator is also responsible for producing a quality product in a safe and efficient manner while promoting a team atmosphere.

This position is responsible for problem solving and proactively seeking ways to improve the Armoring process. In addition, the Armor Operator is responsible for maintaining all equipment in the Armor Work Center.

SHIFT : 10pm-8am M-F*

Essential Duties :

• Continually strive to achieve continuous improvement in all activities, processes, and with all projects at Dekoron.
• Understands control panels and / or control knobs
• Can read and understand work order packets to determine customer / work order requirements
• Displays the ability to make Wire Armor and Strap Armor in-process repairs
• Demonstrate the ability to use mig & torch welders, mechanical pressure welder, and electronic welder.
• Ability to set up and operate a spark tester
• Ability to make Wire Armor and Strap Armor in process repairs
• Understand the proper way of using hoist when lifting / loading Strap Armor
• Demonstrate the ability to use mig & torch welder Strap Armor
• Demonstrate the ability to use Mechanical pressure welder Alum. Strap Armor
• Demonstrate the ability to use Electronic Welder Strap Armor / Wire Armor
• Understand the proper procedures for returning unused materials
• Understanding and knowledge of when to report unusual condition, defective material or equipment to a supervisor in a timely manner.
• Has ability to pass a weld / repair certification
• Ability to follow correct procedures for the set-up and running of all types of armor including Gardex, Strap, and Wire.
• Work as a team with other Armor Operators and other Dekoron employees
• Promote safety in all processes and activities
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Preferred :

• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Ability to read and write clearly.
• Ability to read job specification
• Ability to organize works tasks efficiently.
• Ability to use basic machine tools.
• Ability to read the following in instruments is preferred, Micrometers, Calipers, PI Tape.
• Ability to communicate with all levels of employees.
• Must be able to multi-task, follow priorities given, and have strong troubleshooting techniques.
• Self-starter : ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong housekeeping practices and organizational skills desired.

Education and Experience Preferred :

• High School education or equivalent is required; Technical training is preferred
• Licenses or certifications are not required for this position.

• Spend time using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things
• Wear common protective and safety equipment
• Spend time making repetitive motions
• Importance of being exact or accurate
• Communicate with supervisors, peers or subordinates by telephone, in written form, email, or in person.
• Lifting of at least 60 pounds throughout shift
