Alliance Health is Hiring a Paralegal (Hybrid option, Morrisville, NC) Near Morrisville, NC

The Paralegal performs a broad range of functions to support all Alliance attorneys under the supervision of the Deputy General Counsel. The day-to-day work of the Paralegal includes administrative and clerical support of a team of in-house attorneys as well as legal support related to court filings and legal documents.

The selected candidate may have option to work a hybrid schedule, subject to management approval.

Responsibilities & Duties

Process Legal Documents

  • Draft, edit, copy and process all legal documents such as petitions, orders, affidavits, subpoenas, briefs, memorandums of law, motions, legal correspondence, contracts and discovery 

Provide Legal and Administrative Support

  • When requested, attend and provide legal support during depositions, hearings and other legal proceedings
  • Provide assistance to legal staff regarding Alliance policy and court procedures
  • Provide other legal and administrative assistance as requested
  • Communicate with external legal offices, clerk’s offices, and other court-related staff in support of the work of Alliance attorneys
  • Organize and file legal documents with applicable clerks of court
  • Process legal mail and draft and file correspondence

Legal research

  • Conduct legal research as needed

Maintain Files

  • Maintain files for cases, contracts, legal invoices, staff training and travel and professional licensing and other administrative needs of the Legal Department
  • Maintain legal library and resources

Notary Public

  • Notarize documents related to Alliance matters

Scheduling

  • Maintain calendars and schedule appointments, hearing dates and legal deadlines for all Alliance attorneys

Minimum Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of related legal support experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must be currently certified as a Notary Public.

Preferred 

Paralegal certification or graduation from an appropriately accredited institution for paralegal training preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of Legal document formats (contracts, summonses, briefs, motions, etc.) and rules of legal citations
  • Working knowledge of rules of procedures in Office of Administrative Hearings, NC State, and Federal Court)
  • Knowledge of office management practices
  • Knowledge of filing systems and processes of tribunals hearing Alliance matters
  • Communication clearly and logically in written & oral form
  • Excellent Organizational skills
  • Excellent Time Management skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to manage diverse assignments from multiple attorneys simultaneously
  • Ability to perform preliminary legal research, summarize facts and evidence, and assist in the preparation and assembly of legal documents
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with persons contacted in course of work.

Salary Range 

$28.12 to $35.85/Hourly 

Exact compensation will be determined based on the candidate's education, experience, external market data and consideration of internal equity.
