Data Engineer

Key Objectives/Responsibilities:
A strong understanding of common data integration challenges within the insurance industry, as well as the best practice technical
approaches & solutions available through data integration, data warehouse, and data lake technologies
Ability to lead by example, having worked as a technical build resource
Experience in how technology solutions can enable business transformation
Incorporate and implement ETL/ELT best practices within the group
Identify and recommend new ETL/ELT features/tools and design and develop the optimal solution to address business requirements
Responsible for the development and maintenance of CAESAR (i.e. EDW) ETL/ELT Processes
Translate functional requirements into technical specifications and solutions
Perform ad hoc analysis using SQL to extract data sets
Research innovative technologies and provide ideas for technological or workflow/process improvements
Identifies opportunities to re-engineer existing solutions to utilize technology better, optimize performance, and simplify support
Analyze current processes to determine or update Key Performance Metrics
Identify, manage, and document processes; review and coordinate testing, verify counts, and ensure accuracy
Mentor and support team members on best practices
Identify and incorporate automation into our existing and new processes
Perform design review to ensure the solution will meet future growth and business requirements
Work closely with BA, Architects, and QA Teams to execute unit testing, support integration testing, and regression testing for all business
processes
Create, configure, test, deploy, and maintain jobs for inbound and outbound processing
Develop new or improve the existing ETL solutions as the company & data grows
Willingness to provide occasional off-hour support with the other team members
Qualifications/Skills:
Experience with SSIS, SQL Server, SQL, relational database, etc. - 3 to 5 years - Required
Ability to recognize past issue patterns and apply them to the existing problem-resolution process
Self-motivated, team player with the ability to work and mentor junior resources in different regions
Ability to work with the other groups and lead the ETL solution
Excellent Analytical, problem-solving, written, and oral communication skills
Must familiar with SSIS, SQL Server and ETL best practices
Experience with SSAS & SSRS - 0-2 years - good to have
Experience with Azure - 0-1 years - good to have
Experience with Snowflake - 0-1 years - good to have
Experience with DBT - 0-1 years - good to have
Knowledge of the Property and casualty Insurance industry is a plus
Comfortable working with complex ETL solutions and large data sets
Organized with Strong written and Verbal communication skills
Familiar with Jira, Confluence, and Agile Processes
