Job Summary The Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) in the South Eastern Kentucky county service area. The SMP Staff Assistant must serve as a public relations person for the projects and foster interagency relationships to increase SMP viability and visibility across the South Eastern Kentucky counties and Commonwealth of Kentucky.
This position must record data, as well as develop and maintain appropriate filing systems. The position will be housed at MSU Prestonsburg campus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plans, implements and supervises events and activities of the Senior Medicare Patrol.
Such events include : membership meetings, Advisory Council meetings, recognition events, presentations, outreach and all other meetings as requested.
Develops partnerships with organizations throughout the state to expand the program’s range of service; both geographically and culturally to reach diverse populations.
Plans, schedules, manages and coordinates outreach events for Senior Medicare Patrol.
Visits volunteer stations, volunteer sites and prospective community agencies wishing to utilize the volunteer services of SMP.
Schedules and coordinates public relations activities and public service announcements.
Collaborates with agencies for outreach events. Other Duties and Responsibilities Composes correspondence, creates calendar invitations, and maintains records and files.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. Minimum Requirements Must be a current student at Morehead State University.
Additional Desirable Qualifications Experience working with professional agency staff and with senior adults and have knowledge of community human service resources.
The ability to motivate others by word and example, to plan creative activities and programs would be most desirable. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up at least 25 pounds.
