Description

The Maintenance Technician works under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager and is primarily responsible for repairing, maintaining, and setting up production, kitchen, and manufacturing equipment. The main goal is to ensure all repairs and setups are performed safely and accurately, using their technical expertise and experience. This position will work different shifts, overtime, and weekends if required. All employees are responsible for following all of Nutrition Corp.’s protocols of Food Safety.

Essential Duties:

· Perform all aspects of installation, troubleshooting and repair, from lightbulb replacement to complex automation equipment, in a food manufacturing plant environment.

· Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve equipment problems by replacing or repairing parts, conducting tests, and making necessary adjustments.

· Operate and understand packaging equipment and processes.

· Make minor repairs to flooring, walls, glass, minor electrical repairs.

· Perform root cause analysis and provide long term corrective solutions to aid in continuous improvement.

· Ensure the implementation of a preventive maintenance program for all plant equipment.

· Perform safety checks on equipment.

· Identify parts using manuals and online resources.

· Be familiar with 5S concepts and how to apply them to the maintenance department.

· Understand air compressors and how to control and operate them.

· Observe all OSHA and facility safety rules and regulations including use of personal protective equipment.

· Identify safety issues with machines, document them, develop an action plan to resolve the concerns, and follow up to ensure successful resolution.

· Collaborate with vendors to ensure timely completion of all equipment repairs.

· Follow all established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), including maintaining an orderly, clutter free, and clean work area and maintenance area.

· Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of equipment in a timely manner to minimize downtime.

· Work with operators/supervisors to keep equipment running for better efficiency.

· Complete work orders in a timely manner.

· Accurately document the completion of all maintenance activities.

· Keep inventory of tools, parts, and equipment.

· Perform all work conforming to Company, federal, state, and local standards and codes.

· Exhibit flexibility when required for special projects in any areas of the facility when needed.

· Read and comprehend safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals, as well as draft routine reports and correspondence.

· Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements

Qualifications/Education/Experience:

· Must be at least 18 years of age.

· High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

· Preferred, but not required: Previous experience in food manufacturing.

· Basic math skills.

· Effective communication skills, including good written communication skills to ensure legibility.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Good attitude/team worker.

· Maintain reliable attendance.

· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including all shifts and days.

· Ability to work overtime as needed.

Work Environment:

Food manufacturing and warehouse environment with varying temperatures, including cold and hot environments.

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand, crawl, stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach. Lift/push and pull up to 50 lbs. Work in cold/hot environment. Ability to read and write legibly. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Standard days and schedules are usually between Sunday-Saturday.

Days and hours are subject to change depending on Company needs.
