General Purpose:

Assistant Golf Superintendent works directly with the Golf Course Superintendent to help develop a daily work schedule and coordinate the related activities and necessary equipment with the staff. Training, supervision and reviewing of golf course employees along with supervision of construction projects and specific maintenance activities on the golf course and club grounds, fall under the Assistant Superintendent’s duties.

Essential Duties:

• Help promote player satisfaction through quality maintenance and communications
• Knowledge of golf course and club grounds irrigation systems in detail.
• Thoroughly assist in all safety training needs and procedures.
• Train, motivate and supervise the staff.
• Works with the Superintendent and other key staff members to constantly improve the golf course, club grounds, maintenance facility and compound, plus all safety programs.
• Orientates each individual crewmember to obtain a thorough understanding of their job classification, objectives and duties.
• Inspects all equipment and tools that are assigned to specific tasks and reports any deficiencies to the Equipment Head Mechanic.
• Must be able to obtain a Florida Commercial Pesticide Applicator License with in first season
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Basic Required Skills

• Communicate with a two-way radio system.
• Possess good organizational skills.
• Have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
• Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
• Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Knowledge of table service standards.
• Knowledge of appropriate table settings and service ware.
• Ability to describe all menu items and methods of preparation.
• May be required: to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands

• Most work tasks are performed outdoors in the seasonal elements.
• Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours in length.
• Must be able to exert a well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
• Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
• Ability to perform heavy physical labor. May be required to work in an environment that includes such activities as bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting.
• May need to lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. frequently.
• Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
• Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
• Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
• Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
