Job summary: The Environmental Health and Safety Specialist will implement policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. This position will ensure that the plant is in compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory agencies.

Examples of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks.
• Work with Operations regularly to support a cohesive safe workplace.
• Oversee health and safety procedures for all areas of the company.
• Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.
• Monitors compliance with safety procedures.
• Manages incident and injury reporting including OSHA logs/records. Investigates and recommends corrective action surrounding any injury or potential injuries.
• Maintains records of discharge of our employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

• Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field.
• Five years of related experience preferred.

Physical Demands:

• Vision, hearing and speaking to meet performance standard.
• Walk up and down long staircases multiple times daily, elevator available for use. We have a large facility, and this position needs to access many different places within the facility daily.
• Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
• Occasionally going into the production area and donning protective clothing as stated below.

Work Environment:

Ability to work in an environment that contains odors, moderate level noise, and temperature & ventilation variations while wearing any appropriate safety and/or protective clean room apparel required e.g.: safety glasses, shoe covers, gloves, hair net, face mask, lab coat or uniform.
