Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians in providing medical care to animals
- Perform routine procedures such as vaccinations, blood draws, and dental cleanings
- Monitor and record vital signs of animals during procedures and treatments
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Prepare animals for surgery and assist during surgical procedures
- Take and develop x-rays
- Collect and analyze laboratory samples
- Provide post-operative care and follow-up instructions to pet owners
- Maintain accurate medical records
Qualifications:
- License or degree in veterinary technology.
- Proficiency in veterinary terminology and medical procedures
- Knowledge of animal husbandry, care, and behavior
- Familiarity with aseptic technique and infection control protocols
- Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and veterinary team members
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Skills:
- Veterinary terminology: Knowledge of medical terms used in veterinary medicine.
- Animal husbandry: Knowledge of proper care, nutrition, and handling of animals.
- Animal care: Ability to provide compassionate care for sick or injured animals.
- Aseptic technique: Understanding of sterile techniques to prevent infection during medical procedures.
- Animal physiology: Familiarity with the anatomy and physiology of animals.
- Dog and Cat handling: Proficiency in safely handling dogs and cats of various sizes and temperaments.
- Animal restraint: Ability to safely restrain animals during examinations, treatments, or procedures.
