MID DEL SCHOOL DISTRICT is Hiring a 2024-25 Practical Nursing Instructor Near Midwest, OK

SALARY SCHEDULE: BASE SALARY BASED ON DEGREE LEVEL AND EXPERIENCE,
BEGINNING AT $63,000.00
11 MONTH (215 CONTRACT DAYS) NON-CERTIFIED
DEPARTMENT: MID-DEL TECHNOLOGY CENTER
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT

POSITION SUMMARY:
Mid-Del Tech Center’s Practical Nursing Program is a two instructor program. Students attend the program from August until June. The instructor provides instruction in multiple formats for a variety of courses and attends clinicals weekly. The position works a 215 day (11-month) schedule.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must hold valid, unrestricted RN License for the State of Oklahoma
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • 2 years full-time experience as an RN in a clinical setting within the last 5 years is required
  • Ability to learn multiple instruction techniques
  • Acute Care Experience on a Med-Surg unit is preferred
  • Experience providing nursing education or training is preferred
  • Must be willing to attend training and work toward additional credentials/certifications as related to the program area
  • Must be Clinical Site compliant
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Instructs students using a variety of instructional techniques such as: lecture, demonstration, modeling, simulations, and project-based learning. Utilizes audio-visual aids and learning management system and facilitates group and independent study.
  • Develops and prepares program curriculum, objectives, course outlines, lesson plans, assignments, simulations, and evaluation instruments reflective of requisite nursing skills and knowledge. All curriculum follows guidelines or requirements set forth by the state, industry board, and school district.
  • Attends and keeps current with industry training in specialty areas and implements relevant skills in the classroom environment. Establishes and maintains an advisory committee including industry professionals and other essential stakeholders.
  • Supervises students in off-site clinical practices in a variety of areas and models professionalism in the nursing practice. Clearly communicates curriculum and information to various stakeholders via in-person or email, online Learning Management System (LMS), online Student Information System (SIS), and/or video conferencing software.
  • Objectively administers and evaluates assignments, skill demonstrations and tests to determine student progress in theory, skills and clinical courses. Provides timely feedback, and adjusts instruction as needed. Records student grades in student information management applications.
  • Manages the classroom effectively, sets high expectations, and monitors students at all times. Fosters a positive learning environment in the classroom and clinical settings. Assists students with developing employability skills and prepares students for employment upon completion of the program.
  • Prepares all program completers for examinations required to gain certification. Assesses student progress throughout the program and provides feedback and improvement plans for those not performing at proper level.
  • Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, teacher training workshops, advisory committee meetings and student recruiting/promotional school events. When appropriate, provides accommodations to meet student needs.
  • Performs duties related to participation in and sponsoring of CareerTech student organization events and competitions, assisting students in job placement, and providing work-based learning opportunities and supervision.
  • Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.
LANGUAGE AND GRAMMAR SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to compose and write grammatically correct correspondence and memos.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, schedule form, or blueprint form.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, extreme cold (including outdoors), extreme heat (including direct sunlight), risk of electrical shock and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.
To ensure continuity of services, remote work may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for remote work will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for remote work will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
