In December 2021, Brightstar Capital Partners ("Brightstar"), a private equity firm focused on partnering with families, founders, entrepreneurs, and management teams, completed its acquisition of Novae LLC in partnership with the Company's two founders and senior management team. Job Summary: Lead a mission-driven engineering function & team in the application of multidisciplinary engineering principles and practices to improve the operation and performance of manufacturing systems with a focus on Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement. This includes creating and maintaining an environment where people can be great at what they do and proud of what they have done.

Essential Functions

  • Oversee key projects and process improvements within the Engineering team.
  • Provide oversight and leadership to the plant-specific Engineering team, including making assignments, giving direction/guidance, and providing performance feedback.
  • Provide opportunities for employee development to ensure continuous improvement and allow for growth and retention of high performing talent within the organization.
  • Lead the design, development and implementation of lean manufacturing systems that reduce waste, increase throughput, and shorten lead times.
  • Lead the development and implementation of job/workstation designs with focus on ergonomics and operator satisfaction.
  • Lead the application of tooling, equipment, automation, robotics, and material handling systems that improve safety, quality, and cost.
  • Lead the identification, development, and implementation of manufacturing CI initiatives with focus on employee engagement.
  • Maintain a productivity measurement and labor tracking system that drives improved manpower utilization and reduced labor cost.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of standard engineering data - layouts, process flow diagrams, capacity charts, time studies, productivity metrics, etc.
  • Lead and support an inter-plant benchmarking process to identify and propagate best practices and lessons learned.
  • Support capacity planning and changes in plant product allocation.
  • Partner with Product Development and Design Engineering to identify opportunities for Design for Manufacturing.
  • Assist in other areas and perform other duties, as needed. (This is not intended to be a comprehensive list of activities, duties, or responsibilities required for this job.)

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred, or a related field with relevant experience, or demonstrated skills and abilities.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office and other engineering software (AutoCAD preferred).
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership position is required.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as presentation skills.
  • Highly motivated and deeply responsible.
  • Committed to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to travel 25% to 35% between plants or as projects require.
