RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Manage outsourced functions
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the departmental goals
- Manage the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Invoicing, and Payroll teams
- Maintain chart of accounts
- Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
- Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
- Assess, develop, and improve financial reporting
- Issue timely and complete financial statement
- Coordinate the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to management
- Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
- Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
- Develop, maintain, and manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
- Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
- Provide for a system of management cost reports
- Provide financial analyses as needed
- Lead for all external audits.
- Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- And other duties as assigned
SCOPE DATA
- This position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
WORKING RELATIONSHIP
- Though reporting to ownership, individual should be able to work independently
- Will work directly with all aspects of the company and all levels in the organization
- While primarily an office environment, it will be necessary to spend time in the production and warehouse settings
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Excellent interpersonal skills – team player
- Self-motivated and self-starter
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Must be detail oriented
- Knowledge of production and processing
- Must be able to execute ideas
EXPERIENCE
- 10 years’ experience in accounting
- 5 years’ experience as controller in manufacturing setting
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
