Job Description Air Import Agent

  • Job Type : Full-Time (On-site)
  • Location : Mendota Heights, MN
  • Salary Range : $20- $26 Hourly range

OBJECTIVE (POSITION SUMMARY)

The primary role of the Air Import Agent position is to provide and achieve a high level of customer service to our clients and follow all guidelines as relates to Air Import.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES WILL BE AS FOLLOWS :

In this position, the Air Import Agent is responsible for :

  • Maintain and build rapport through constant correspondence with customers, vendors, and agents.
  • Update customer on all steps of the shipments.
  • Create files on the Navegate / TM systems.
  • Enter information into the Navegate / TM systems according to documents.
  • Ensure all documents have accurate information.
  • Request rates from overseas agents.
  • Quote shipments in a manner that benefits the customer and brings maximum revenue to the company.
  • Coordinate shipment details with overseas agents.
  • Send pre-alert documents to customs brokers in a timely manner.
  • Send pre-alert to destination handling agent for point-to-point shipment.
  • Track shipments from multiple points of origin to final destination.
  • Update the Navegate / TM systems accordingly.
  • Pay terminal fees through PAYCARGO, EPIC, or CARGO SPRINT.
  • Schedule shipments for delivery.
  • Ensure shipment is delivered in a timely manner and request HCPODs from delivery crew.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving any issues / problems that may come up during the shipments.
  • Collect all payable invoices associated with each shipment to create a final billing statement.
  • Invoice customers accurately in a timely manner, along with sending them a copy of any relevant documents for their records.
  • Assist team members with any part of their shipments if required.
  • Quote DAP shipments and handle any shipments that are awarded to RWTS.

QUALIFICATIONS : KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

Education and Industry Knowledge

  • Bachelor / associate degree in business or Logistics.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Air Import preferred.
  • Experience in the Transportation or Logistics industry is an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in TM is an asset.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal and written form.

  • Accurate and detail oriented.

Work Schedule

Full time schedule of minimum 8 hours per day with flexibility to complete all required job duties and responsibilities.

Work Environment

  • Usually moderate noise level.
  • Climate controlled office environment.

Physical Demands

  • Regular physical demands : Walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; use fingers for keyboarding; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities : close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Language Skills :

  • Ability to read and interpret documents, spreadsheets, emails and instructions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively to both internal and external contacts.
