Job SummaryThe Credit Analyst will conduct in-depth financial analysis, assess risk factors, and provide valuable insights to support lending decisions within a business-to-business (B2B) context. The position requires a strong understanding of financial statements, trade credit reports, and industry-specific risk factors. Collaborating with internal teams, this role will shape credit policies and ensure compliance while contributing to effective risk management strategies.
Essential Job Duties
  • Perform detailed financial analysis specific to B2B transactions to evaluate credit risk.
  • Assess business financial statements, trade credit reports, and industry trends.
  • Process Credit Applications and follow-up with Bank and Trade references.
  • Monitor industry-specific market trends and developments to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare thorough credit reports, presenting findings and recommendations for Senior Leadership.
  • Ensure strict adherence to established Summit credit policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Provide recommendations for appropriate credit limits, terms, and conditions.
  • Stay abreast of changes in economic conditions and industry dynamics impacting credit risk.
  • Effectively communicate with clients and internal stakeholders, addressing inquiries and providing support.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date credit files and documentation specific to B2B credit evaluations.
  • Handle internal collections escalation accounts and employ negotiation tactics to effectively resolve delinquent accounts.
  • Efficiently process delinquent accounts by compiling and packaging all relevant account information for submission to legal, coordinating with department manager.
  • Monitor lien rights for ongoing contracted projects across all subsidiaries, file necessary documents to maintain lien rights, and file mechanics liens as needed to ensure legal protection.
  • Process incoming bankruptcy notices and take appropriate steps to file claims while continuing to monitor case status.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
QualificationsThe qualifications listed below are representative of the elements required to perform the job successfully; however, in some cases, an equivalent combination of Education, Training, Certifications, and Experience may meet the job qualifications.
Education, Training, Certifications
  • High school Diploma, or equivalent, required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, preferred.
Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements
  • 3 years of credit management experience in a similar role
  • Understanding of construction contracts and industry-specific financial processes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • NACM designation (CBA, CBF, CCE) preferred
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and regulations.
  • Ability to adapt to changing business needs and work collaboratively across departments.
Communication Skills
  • Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and communicate in English with employees and customers.
Systems And Software Skills
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, advanced MS Excel skills.
Other Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
  • Occasional travel required up to 20%.
  • Must be able to comply with Summit’s Drug and Alcohol Policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreements.

Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for long periods. Employee will occasionally be required to drive, bend, kneel, balance, lift <20lb, walk, stand, ascend/descend stairs, reach above and below shoulders, stoop, and twist.
Work EnvironmentEmployee will consistently be required to work indoors in an office or remote setting, sit or stand for extended periods of time, and work alone and with others. The employee will be occasionally required to travel.
