JOB TITLE: Financial Analyst

REPORTS TO: Chief Financial & Operating Officer

FLSA: Exempt

ORGANIZATION MISSION
The National Civil Rights Museum, located at the historic Lorraine Motel, honors and
preserves the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. We chronicle the American civil rights
movement and tell the story of the ongoing struggle for human rights. We educate and
serve as a catalyst to inspire action to create positive social change.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Financial Analyst at the National Civil Rights Museum will be responsible for
effectively utilizing financial techniques to analyze financial data, recommend tools,
systems, and accounting measures to drive profitable performance. Reporting to the
Chief Financial & Operations Officer, this role will play a key part in furthering the
Museum’s impact and future.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with various functional areas including Finance, Human Resources,
Information Technology, Admissions and Retail merchandising to develop
functional reports for budgets, forecasts, and return on investment analysis and is
responsible for data governance.
  • Manage ROI analysis for all asset and other museum acquisitions prior to
contract approval.
  • Conduct financial analysis including budgeting and forecasting/projections to
support the financial health and sustainability of the museum.
  • Monitor and analyze revenue streams, expenses, and cash flows to ensure
alignment with organizational goals and mission.
  • Analyze Endowment and Operating Reserve Fixed and Equity investments.
  • Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of program budgets, providing
financial insights to program executives.
  • Assist in the allocation analysis needed for financial audits, tax filings including

the IRS 990 & 5500, and other regulatory compliance requirements as needed.

  • Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations to
management for decision-making.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to identify areas
for improvement and optimization.
  • Complete ad hoc analysis as needed.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in financial

analysis.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • The Financial Analystperforms additional functions (essential or otherwise), which
may be assigned from time to time. The position may require work on weekends,
nights, and holidays to accommodate facility programming and utilization. Must
attend monthly museum wide staff meetings.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Most of the work is performed in the Museum and in a typical office setting of a
multi-level, multi-site complex with some outdoor work required when attending
various functions associated with the Museum.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Proven experience in financial analysis, preferably in corporate
finance/accounting or other related fields.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel and financial
modeling.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to interpret
financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum direction and to manage and
communicate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of Financial software such as Financial Edge, Tessitura and

Counterpoint is a plus.
