Job Summary:
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in Government Accounting, specifically within the Public-School Sector. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of Governmental Accounting Principles, Regulations, and Procedures, as well as a proven track record of success in Managing Financial Processes within the Public Education System.
Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
• Oversee and manage all financial activities related to government accounting in accordance with relevant regulations and policies.
• Develop and maintain financial systems and controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Budgeting and Forecasting
• Collaborate with relevant departments to develop and monitor budgets for public school programs and initiatives.
• Provide financial forecasts and analyses to support informed decision-making.
Financial Reporting:
• Prepare comprehensive financial reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with government accounting standards.
• Present financial information clearly and concisely to senior management and relevant authorities.
Audit and Compliance:
• Assist clients in coordinating internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Stay current with changes in government accounting standards and implement necessary adjustments.
Grant Management:
• Manage the financial aspects of grants and funding received, ensuring proper allocation and utilization.
• Prepare financial reports for grantors and oversee compliance with grant requirements.
Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
• Provide guidance and training to junior staff members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• 3 years of experience in Senior Accounting roles within the Government Sector, with experience in Public School Finance.
• In-depth knowledge of Fund Accounting, Government Accounting Principles, Regulations, and Compliance Requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation preferred.
