Summary of Responsibilities
Library Assistant responsibilities include providing circulation services to library patrons.
Circulation services include but are not limited to reference services, readers’ advisory,
organizing collection, creating displays, computer skills instruction and assistance,
interaction with the public daily.

Work is performed primarily in a library environment. Working with the public daily. Position requires excellent customer service, oral and written skills.
This position requires strong computer skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. The person in this position will often need to provide computer support for library users, including Windows, MAC, iOS, and Android devices.
Consistent, personalized customer service that follows library policy is a priority. The library assistant must be able to maintain a calm, professional demeanor when dealing with stressful situations.
Manual dexterity and physical ability to reach and shelve library materials, sort books, use software and a variety of media formats at a variety of heights is required. Sufficient vision, hearing and speech are essential to communicate with patrons and to assist them in locating materials, using computers or other office equipment. Must have sufficient hand eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate a personal computer and keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment.
Physical exertion will be required to lift library materials and other supplies from overhead and from the floor. Must have the ability to move around the library. This position may require movement, standing or sitting for long periods of time.
Modern libraries function as a community center; where patrons gather to socialize, and staff will be enthusiastic about supporting that function.
The ideal candidate will be able to thrive with uncertainty and rapid changes due to unforeseen factors.

We are seeking a dedicated Library Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist in various library functions and provide support to library patrons.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patrons with locating library materials and resources
- Conduct research and data collection as needed
- Troubleshoot software and technology issues for library users
- Help patrons with writing and formatting documents
- Support library services such as cataloging and shelving books
- Organize and computerize library materials
- Communicate effectively with patrons to address inquiries
- Utilize an Integrated Library System (ILS) for managing library operations
Experience:
The ideal candidate should possess the following skills:
- Proficiency in conducting research and data collection
- Ability to troubleshoot software issues
- Strong writing skills for assisting patrons with documents
- Familiarity with library services and operations
- Organizational skills to manage library materials efficiently
- Ability to computerize library systems for improved accessibility
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patrons
- Experience with an Integrated Library System (ILS) is a plus
