Who We're Looking ForWe are looking for an experienced and organized self-starter who wants to support our accounting department with the opportunity for significant professional growth. The Staff Accountant’s primary responsibilities will include bank reconciliations, recording journal entries in the general ledger, capital expenditure tracking and assisting with the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to various stakeholder in the company. The position reports directly to VP of Accounting.
What You'll Do
  • Responsible for supporting the timely and accurate accounting month-end close across multiple property portfolios. Investigate significant variances in financial statements and report findings.
  • Reconcile various general ledger accounts, balance-sheet maintenance and generate journal entries as needed.
  • Reconcile multiple bank accounts, verify deposits, and address inquiries with staff.
  • Research and resolve any customer credit card issues or refunds.
  • Prepare month end accrual entry from accounts payable system.
  • Manage monthly fixed asset additions and disposals and record monthly depreciation/amortization.
  • Manage capital expenditure reporting.
  • Prepare sales and use tax returns on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Assist in preparing and filing personal property tax returns.
  • Ad hoc projects and reports as assigned.
What You Need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 1-2 years of public accounting and/or commercial real estate accounting experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with an understanding of GAAP (fair value accounting) preferred.
  • Active CPA license or willingness to pursue CPA license a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, Yardi, MRI and/or other accounting software a plus.
  • Ability to meet and manage critical deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to adapt within a highly dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft based software such as Excel and Word.
