Job Title: CASAC Counselor

Job Summary:

The CASAC Counselor’s primary function is to conduct individual and group sessions with clients. This involves building rapport and trust with new clients and documenting all work with clients in the program EMR (AWARDS). The CASAC Counselor is also responsible for collecting drug tests from clients regularly, adhering to the agency’s policies and procedures, adhering to OASAS 820 regulations, and for bringing all significant concerns to the Clinical Supervisor and/or Program Director.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Responsible for the management of patient caseload (up to 15 patients) in accordance with CREATE and OASAS guidelines and expectations.
• Conduct individual sessions with each patient at least weekly, conduct at least one group session per day, and coordinate care with interested parties as needed.
• Meet for clinical supervision weekly with Clinical Supervisor.
• Ensure psychosocial evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes are completed in accordance with OASAS regulations and agency requirements.
• Participates in weekly MDT case conferences and staff meetings.
• Responsible for ensuring the program maintains an effective two-way relationship with existing referral sources, and ensuring that linkages with outside agencies are maintained and properly utilized.
• Responsible for ensuring that patients receive appropriate treatment and ancillary services including, but not limited to, medical, mental health, housing, domestic violence, legal, gambling, tobacco, communicable disease, employment, and educational/vocational services.
• Responsible for program reporting, including HRA STARS, ACS reports, CJS reports, etc.
• Responsible for ensuring all licensing and credentialing regulations are complied with.

Qualifications/Criteria:

• Must have a minimum of two (2) years’ experience working in OASAS licensed programs.
• Must have a working knowledge of Medicaid and billing procedures, in addition to OASAS 820 regulations.
• Must have excellent assessment, communication, and computer skills.
• Must be detail-oriented.
• Must have the ability to work well with a multi-disciplinary team and relate well to referring agencies.
• Must be able to sit approximately six (6) hours a day.
• Must enforce the policies and procedures of this agency.
• Regular and punctual attendance is required.
• Must be available to work a flexible schedule, at times and as necessary.
• Must maintain compliance with OASAS 820 regulations and regarding patient care, patient rights, documentation, and referrals.

Education:

• Bachelor's degree required
• Must be a Qualified Healthcare Professional (CASAC, CASAC-T, etc.)
