YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROFESSIONAL - ELEMENTARY
DEPARTMENT: Elementary Sites
REPORTS TO: Director of Elementary Programs
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time, Non-Exempt
PAY RATE: Based on Experience and Education
Hours: 20-29 hours per week
Hours of Availability: Monday- Thursday 1:00 pm - 6:30 pm and Friday 12:30 pm- 6:30 pm
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
We are looking for a team player who is enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of Malibu's youth. The Youth Development Professional will facilitate learning by keeping kids focused, fielding questions, and anticipating virtual learning challenges. They will also intersperse breaks for mindfulness activities, reading, art, sports, and more. The ideal YDP is energetic, fun-loving, passionate, active, positive, and loves working with kids.
PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS:
Leadership
· Develop relationships with the members to encourage active participation in Programs and Activities.
· Empower members to be leaders through positive role-modeling.
· Facilitate club program sessions and activities in the following areas: Character & Leadership, Education Development, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, Fitness, & Recreation.
Manage & Develop Resources
· Implement daily programs/activities in Arts & Crafts, STEM, Healthy Lifestyle Skills, and Sports and Recreation.
· Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings and staff training, which are essential to professional development.
Communication
· Listen to co-workers, parents/guardians, youth members and community, and other Boys & Girls Club affiliates.
· Present essential and relevant information through program facilitation, staff meetings or training, and other Boys & Girls Club events.
· Write and compose clear, concise, accurate written documentation and incident reports.
· Track club members' daily attendance by ensuring the sign-in/sign-out sheet is filled out correctly by parents/guardians.
Supervision & Safety
· Safety is our top priority!
· As part of enhanced safety and health protocols, all staff will undergo extensive training on new COVID-19 safety protocols, observation, and sign‐off from senior leadership.
· Relay all safety concerns to the direct supervisor via email, phone, and in-person.
· Practice and continuously be aware of safe practices like Crisis Management, Emergency Preparedness, CPR First Aid, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills/Knowledge
· Must be at least 18 years of age and have valid identification
· Work experience with a Boys & Girls Club or other youth-serving organization
· Ability to organize, supervise, and discipline youth members
· Must be a team player, work well with others, and be flexible in assigned work tasks
Education
· Bachelor's Degree obtained or in progress (preferred majors in Education, Early Childhood, or Behavioral Science)
Physical Requirements/Work Environment.
· Maintain a high-energy level and a constructive attitude.
· Sit or stand for four-plus hours per day.
· Lift 15 pounds or less.
· Be outdoors for 3-4 hours a day, involved in sports and recreation programs
· Good driving record of qualifying for driving Club vans (no special license required)
· Must be available to participate in special programs and some weekend events.

Preferred Skills/Knowledge
· Bilingual speaking and writing- Spanish
· Transcript of 12 or more units in Early Childhood Education
· First Aid and CPR certified or willing to obtain
