The Head of Finance will oversee a North American team of controllers who support the various aspects of our evolving business. You will work closely with the business and drive performance analyses, planning and control. You are a structured, analytical and hands-on professional with a strong interest in the commercial and financial aspects of the growing and fascinating business. This role will report to our Global Head of Finance Commercial Operations and be based in our Mahwah, NJ office.

What you’ll do

• Drive and own financial performance for our US & Canada sales units.
• Contribute to all areas of the business providing strong financial leadership.
• Liaise with external and internal auditors and ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley controls.
• Take responsibility for statutory financial statements, P/L, and balance sheet.
• High attention on sales margins (profits), operational growth (sales volumes), operating cost and cash flow.
• Bottom line responsibility for the markets with high transparency towards Global functions.
• Governance and Control – secure execution and improvement of internal controls set by our global internal control team.
• Oversee a small team of controllers while also having indirect functional leadership of different finance functions.
• Work closely with the local operational teams with strategic and day-to-day business acting as back-up to local business control where necessary.
• Monitor and identify areas for revenue and cost optimizations.
• Work in close collaboration with Polestar global operational teams, other finance and accounting functions (General, PTP, OTC, Treasury, FP&A)
• Responsible for budget, forecast, monthly reporting and FLUX reviews with the support of the local team.

• High focus on improving data quality and data transparency.
• Drive problem solving and identify process gaps and areas for optimization and automation.
• Support management with dashboards, KPIs and ad-hoc analyses.

Who you are

• 10 years’ of experience in a leadership role within a finance department/function.
• Bachelor's/master’s degree in finance or the equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability.
• International work experience is highly desirable.
• Proven abilities working for a U.S. listed company environment with strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley Act and other regulatory requirements.
• Controlling background with strong knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, local GAAP, local reporting requirements and regulations.
• Firm grasp of local financial rules and regulations.
• Experience in reviewing complex contracts, evaluating accounting implications and presenting your conclusions/supporting documents in detail to stakeholders.
• Data driven; you like analyzing data to find business opportunities and risks.
• Effective communicator to understand and communicate financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting and internal controls to digestible content for business stakeholders.
• Experience in a mature modern leadership, able to lead individually and handle cultural differences.
• Strong prioritization abilities both in your own scope, your team, and deliverables to best support business objectives.
• Ideally you have experience from automotive, retail or online sales operations. If you have been part of a local sales organization, it’s a plus.
• You have a passion for collaboration and thrive in an ever-evolving, flat work culture that prioritizes collective success over individual gains.
