Akkodis is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for a Contract role. Ideally looking for applicants to have experience in a manufacturing setting that includes process development and improvement preferred.

Location: Lowell MI

Duration: 6 Months Contract

Rate: $23-25/hr. on w2

Job Description:

• Application of lean manufacturing principles with a proven track record of success (Will train for Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification for the right candidate).
• Communicating effectively with management, teams, engineers, and the shop floor.
• Supporting process improvement activities on multiple and concurrent projects, demonstrating a sense of urgency.
• Experience with the design and implementation of PLC-driven assembly, in-line testing, and manufacturing fixtures.
• Experience with or exposure to electronics assemblies.
• Experience with or exposure to Visual Factory software application.
• Experience with or exposure to SolidWorks software application.
• Familiarity with multiple plastics and metal materials, including stainless, aluminum, and various alloys, is also a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support to the manufacturing engineers to facilitate new product development projects and existing production needs.
• Integration of new equipment and processes to the point of production readiness including development support, facilities preparation, installation support, qualification, and troubleshooting.
• Support of continuous improvement efforts related to manufacturing operations including safety improvements, department/cell layouts, cycle time/changeover reductions, and 6S.
• Support the Quality Engineering department to identify root causes of customer issues as they relate to manufacturing.
• Developing and maintaining current product cost information as it pertains to process and packaging.
• Performing cost analysis to determine the best course of action in process improvements.
• Initiating product time studies and line-balancing activities.
• Initiating and processing engineering change notices as they relate to bills of material, product routings, and cost.
• Developing and editing documented work instructions.
• Creation and/or modification of CAD models/drawings related to fixture designs.
• Working with project leaders and teams to achieve Quality, Cost, and Timing targets.
