New London Local Schools is seeking a highly qualified and passionate individual to fill the role of Literacy Coach. As a Literacy Coach, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our mission to ensure that every student becomes a proficient reader and develops a lifelong love for literacy.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective literacy instruction strategies aligned with Ohio's plan to raise literacy.
Provide professional development and coaching to teachers to enhance their understanding and implementation of evidence-based literacy practices, with a particular focus on structured literacy.
Conduct regular classroom literacy walks and provide feedback to teachers to support their growth and development as literacy educators.
Support the development and implementation of intervention programs for students who require additional literacy support.
Stay current with the latest research and best practices in literacy instruction, particularly in the areas of structured literacy and the science of reading.
Collaborate with district leadership to analyze data and assess the effectiveness of literacy initiatives, making recommendations for improvement as needed.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in education or a related field.
Ohio teaching certification.
Strong understanding of the science of reading and evidence-based literacy instruction practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.
Passion for promoting literacy and helping all students achieve success.
