New London Local Schools is seeking a highly qualified and passionate individual to fill the role of District-wide Literacy Coach. As a District-wide Literacy Coach, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our mission to ensure that every student in our district becomes a proficient reader and develops a lifelong love for literacy.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with district administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to develop and implement effective literacy instruction strategies aligned with Ohio's plan to raise literacy.

• Provide professional development and coaching to teachers to enhance their understanding and implementation of evidence-based literacy practices, with a particular focus on structured literacy.

• Conduct regular classroom literacy walks and provide constructive feedback to teachers to support their growth and development as literacy educators.

• Assist in the selection and implementation of research-based literacy curriculum and instructional materials.

• Support the development and implementation of intervention programs for students who require additional literacy support.

• Stay current with the latest research and best practices in literacy instruction, particularly in the areas of structured literacy and the science of reading.

• Collaborate with district leadership to analyze data and assess the effectiveness of literacy initiatives, making recommendations for improvement as needed.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in education or a related field.

• Ohio teaching certification.

• Certification in structured literacy or similar trainings as approved by ODEW

• Strong understanding of the science of reading and evidence-based literacy instruction practices.

• Previous experience as a literacy coach or similar role preferred.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.

• Passion for promoting literacy and helping all students achieve success.
