POSITION SUMMARY

The Utility Worker is responsible for maintaining kitchen work areas, equipment and utensils. This position plays a vital role in the successful function and operations of dining service.

Together with the entire team at Channing House, your role contributes to promoting a healthy and vibrant home for our residents.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will be responsible for, but not limited to the following essential duties and responsibilities :

Food Preparation and Storage 85% of job duties

  • Wash dishes by hand or run them through dishwashing machine.
  • Wash and sanitize all work tables, walls, refrigerators and meat blocks.
  • Clean equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards.
  • Clean, sweep, mop floors.
  • Remove garbage from work areas to designated disposal areas.
  • Transfer supplies and equipment within and between storage and work areas such as pantry and dish room.
  • Polish silver.
  • Wash Pots & Pans.
  • Provide the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
  • Clean and sanitize work stations and equipment.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Training and Policy Adherence 15% of job duties :

  • Ensure compliance with various licensing and regulatory agencies, including but not limited to : Santa Clara County Department of Health, CDPH, CDSS, CalOSHA, etc.
  • Attend all allergy and food-borne illness in-service training.
  • Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
  • Attend training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.

Unit Responsibilities :

Dishwasher :

  • Wash all Dishes using dishwasher, when dishes are clean remove from racks and distribute to appropriate places in kitchen or dining room stations
  • Change water every 2 hours, clean machine and dish area, fill out temperature sheet
  • Check and refill Coffee Machines with coffee & products
  • Clean walls and counters after each shift
  • Place delivery items away when delivery comes in
  • Check Daily Cleaning Section (Zones) of Kitchen

Pot Washer :

  • Set-up 3 compartment sink- wash, rinse, sanitizer- change water as needed
  • Record Three compartment sink Sanitizing Solution PPM, fill out temperature sheet.
  • Clean all pots according to standards, distribute to appropriate places in kitchen or dining room stations.
  • Clean walls and counters after each shift
  • Place delivery items away when delivery comes in
  • Check Daily Cleaning Section (Zones) of Kitchen
  • Cleans and Sanitize Break Room

JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and / or ability required.

Years of Related Professional Experience :

No related work experience necessary.

Educational / Position Requirements :

High School diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.

Computer / Software / Technical Applications :

Ability to use a computer.

Languages :

Ability to speak and comprehend English the primary language used in the workplace; ability to speak and / or comprehend other languages utilized by clients is a plus.

Required Licenses / Certifications / Background :

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a California Food Handlers Card before starting employment
  • ServSafe certification preferred

Work Environment :

  • Generally in an indoor setting.
