Maple Leaf Foods is Hiring a Supply Chain Planning Manager Near Lisle, IL

The Opportunity:

As the Manager of Supply Chain Planning in Lisle, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our Sales and Operations Planning process, collaborating closely with sales, finance, and operations teams to drive informed production and inventory management plans. This role encompasses end-to-end planning responsibilities, requiring direct oversight and collaboration across sales, operations, and supply chain partners. You'll lead the demand planning process, ensuring accurate forecasts over an 18-month horizon, and drive forecast performance accountability through actionable insights and relevant metrics. Additionally, you'll own key aspects of the planning process, including the demand consensus meeting, master scheduling, and capacity planning where you'll be responsible for ensuring the demand plan fits manufacturing constraints.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • The role is also a key architect to the Sales and Operations Planning process with a focus on interacting with the sales, finance, and operations/supply chain teams to provide the best possible information on which to base our production and inventory management plans 
  • As a working manager, responsible for the end-to-end planning processes through direct oversite and matrixed responsibilities across sales, operations & supply chain partners
  • Lead the demand planning process via forecast collaboration with sales leads over an 18-month horizon
  • Drive forecast performance accountability with sales via actionable insights & relevant performance metrics with internal external data where available
  • Own the demand consensus meeting with business leads in finance, sales, marketing, supply chain & operations
  • Partner with operations on the development of a running 13-week master schedule
  • Partner with logistics on development of weekly deployment plans
  • Own the Master Capacity Plan – influencing business decisions on pre-build quantities & timing, as well as overall asset utilization; influencing capacity projects/investments
  • Responsible for setting targets and reporting on key KPI reporting including – Forecast Accuracy / Case Fill / Inventory – value days on hand / Distress / Production Conformance
  • Effectively deal with long/short inventory situations, including identification of root cause and recommended actions – communicating with stakeholders
  • To be successful in the role, the Manager must possess the business acumen, strong influential leadership, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with our commercial team and other internal stakeholders.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 4-year degree in supply chain management/operations/finance/engineering/mathematics
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communicator, with the ability to tailor the communications to the relevant audience
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and operate, as well as lead and coach in a fast pace, dynamic environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytics, adept at comprehending and working with large quantities of data from a variety of sources to support decision making
  • Sound decision making skills with the ability to make judgement calls in ambiguous situations when data is incomplete
  • Hands on experience with modeling, analysis & simulation tools
  • High level of interpersonal skills & hands on experience working with multiple partners to resolve exceptions and negotiate best alternatives in meeting service level goals
  • Able to provide data to support & explain reasoning for decisions
  • Meets deadlines and works under pressure with limited supervision
  • 5 years or more experience within supply/demand planning, inventory control, logistics management and/or manufacturing production – perishable manufacturing environment is desirable
  • Strong negotiation skills and influential leadership
  • Experience with SAP and its related supply chain applications
  • Experience with Advance Planning Systems (JDA/APO/etc.) is desired – SAP APO / SAP IBP a plus
  • Continuous improvement and change management focus, Six Sigma knowledge is an asset
