Responsibilities:
·Direct the day-to-day functions of Unit Aides and CNAs in accordance with current regulations.
·Ensure all nursing personnel follow written P/P on the unit.
·Ensure nursing staff follow their respective job descriptions.
·Perform administrative duties such as completing transfers, monthlies, nurse’s notes, reports, etc. as necessary.
·Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
·Complete accident/incident reports, as necessary.
·Participate in developing the agenda for care plan committee meetings.
·Ensure that rooms are ready for new admissions.
·Greet newly admitted residents upon admission. Escort to room, as necessary. Do nursing assessments.
·Make rounds with physician.
·Monitors and transcribes physicians orders, consults and appointments, as necessary.
·Provide direct nursing care, as necessary.
·Notify the neighbor’s attending physician and next-of-kin when there is a change in the resident’s condition.
·Make independent decisions concerning nursing care.
·Give/receive the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours.
·Administer professional services such as, but not limited to catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, etc…
·Participate in the orientation of new neighbors/family members to the facility.
·Review the neighbor’s chart for specific treatments, medication orders, diets, etc., as necessary.
·Obtain sputum, urine and other lab tests as ordered.
·Take and record blood pressure, etc. as necessary.
·Monitor seriously ill neighbors, as necessary.
·Administer medications and treatments and document same as necessary.
·Responsible for knowledge of all safety and fire regulations.
·Attend Inservice programs, both in and out of facility, to increase professional competence.
·Responsible for knowledge of all personnel policies.
·Write, evaluate, and update care plans.
All other duties as may be assigned.
EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure by State Board of Nursing.
COMPENSATION: Rate will be commensurate with experience.
