Camden County Fire Rescue FLSA: Non-ExemptMinimum Starting Pay: $19.32 per hour Job SummaryThis position coordinates inventory management functions for the department.
MAJOR DUTIES
  • Manages medical supply inventory; contacts vendors to obtain price quotes on medical supplies; completes purchases orders; stocks and distributes items.
  • Manages fire equipment inventory for new fire engines, tankers, and vehicles; orders new equipment for expired or broken equipment; obtains quotes from vendors.
  • Manages bunker gear inventory, including pants, coats, helmets with safety visors, bunker books, and gloves; obtains price quotes from vendors and makes purchases as needed.
  • Coordinates the repair of bunker gear; maintains inventory of replacement gear.
  • Coordinates the repair and replacement of EMS and fire equipment.
  • Maintains inventory of fire station supplies, including cleaning supplies, furniture, and appliances; obtain quotes and makes purchases.
Additional Duties
  • Performs other work as required or when directed by administration.
  • In the event of an emergency, all Camden County employees are considered essential and may be required to perform alternate duties.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLSThe Fire Operations Chief assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.
GUIDELINESGuidelines include purchase card procedures and department and county policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
  • The work consists of related inventory management duties. The necessity of multi-tasking contributes to the complexity of the position.
  • The purpose of this position is to manage the inventory of equipment, supplies, and gear. Successful performance contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of department operations.

  • Contacts are typically with co-workers, other county employees, vendors, and members of the general public.
  • Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects.
  • The work is typically performed in an office, stockroom, or warehouse.
SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITYNone.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
