Harcros Chemicals Inc. is Hiring a Regulatory Analyst Near Kansas, KS

SUMMARY
Harcros Chemicals Inc. is an employee owned company with a century in specialty chemical manufacturing and distribution. We currently have 2 manufacturing plants and 27 distribution facilities in 20 states. As we continue to grow we are looking for an SDS Author (part-time considered) to support regional distribution and manufacturing facilities. The main focus of this position is to create Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and product labels for Harcros products. The position also includes managing the SDS and label databases. In addition, the SDS Author will conduct research to classify chemicals and chemical mixtures under OSHA, DOT, IATA, IMDG, RCRA and EPA.
Pay: $50,000- $65,000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Authoring SDSs and product labels for Harcros products.
  2. Conduct hazard evaluations for chemicals and raw materials.
  3. Maintain a current working knowledge of regulatory updates which may affect SDS and label content.
  4. Review product classifications on a regular basis to ensure up to date compliance.
  5. Manage SDS and label databases.
  6. Update SDSs and labels as needed.
  7. Review and manage supplier SDSs.
  8. Provide support to Harcros personnel regarding SDS and label distribution and information.
  9. Employee may perform other risk management & regulatory related duties as needed by the organization.
  10. Other duties may be assigned. 
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have obtained or are in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university, preferably in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Industrial Hygiene or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a good knowledge of chemistry. Experience in SDS authoring, OSHA, EPA, RCRA, hazardous materials transportation regulations and toxicology is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts necessary for calculating the classification of chemicals. Must be able to calculate percentage and convert to parts per million.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to use read across data to classify chemicals.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to use a personal computer with working knowledge of word processing, and spreadsheet software. 
  • Familiarity with safety and environmental law is a plus.
  • Experience in techniques of training technical and professional courses.
  • Be able to work with a variety of backgrounds in order to building effective teams.
  • Occasional travel may be required for training or other job related duties.
