The Accounting Manager will be responsible for general accounting activities, monthly customer billing, and the accounts receivable process. The ideal candidate will be adept at navigating the complexities of construction accounting, recording transaction according to GAAP, capable of optimizing cash flow through improved collection process, and meeting internal and external obligations. Additionally, this role will require a person who is self-motivated, pays close attention to detail, maintains excellent organizational skills, and demonstrates a solid grasp of accounting within a growing company.
ResponsibilitiesGeneral Accounting:
- Assist in day-to-day and month-end close activities including fixed assets, prepaids, monthly accruals, and other areas as assigned.
- Perform account reconciliations and other control/review activities.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports.
- Other accounting department duties as assigned by the controller.
- Prepare and issue invoices in AIA format and T&M for customer projects.
- Collaborate with project managers and other departments to ensure billing timeliness, accuracy and compliance.
- Manage accounts receivable, ensuring accurate and timely posting of payments.
- Reconcile billing accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of all jobs, contract costs, billing, and customer activities within the accounting software and/or tracking sheets.
- Interpret customer contracts to ensure accurate billing.
- Ensure that all lien releases are accurately completed and collected from contractors to avoid any potential legal disputes.
- Assist in managing cash flow by ensuring timely receipt of payments and accurately tracking and forecasting cash receipts.
- Assist in the improvement of billing and collections processes for increased efficiency.
- Associates Degree or higher in Accounting/Business – preferred.
- 8 years of accounting and revenue cycle experience – required.
- Construction industry or project-based environment – preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with all levels of employees, management, and external organizations – required.
- Proficiency in MacOS Microsoft Suites - Word, Excel, PowerPoint - required.
