POSITION TITLE: Nursery Attendant

BASIC FUNCTION: Provide a dependable, safe, secure, and nurturing care to the children while in our Nursery, age newborn to age 4 years in a clean and inviting environment.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

· Responsible for providing age-appropriate child care including:

· Feeding and diaper changes

· Escorting children to and from the bathroom

· Assure that children are picked up only by persons authorized on annual Release Forms

· Putting children down for naps

· Holding, or sitting with children

· Cheerfully interacting with children through games, stories, play and prayer

· Maintaining a safe environment

· Observe universal precautions while changing diapers or time of body fluids.

· Being polite, friendly, and courteous to all children, parents, fellow staff and volunteers.

• Implement all nursery policies described in “St. John’s Episcopal Church Nursery Policies Originally Published May 2010”.

REPORTS TO:

• The Lead Nursery Attendant. This is the most usual reporting relationship.

MINIMUM POSITION SPECIFICATION GUIDELINES

Basic Knowledge:

• Preferred Certified in Infant/Children’s CPR/First Aid.
• Ability to use sound practical judgment.
• Ability to relate effectively to both children and adults.
• Ability to exercise maturity and conscious restraint as appropriate.
• Ability to work as a member of the Nursery team and with volunteers.

Previous Experience:

• Two years experience in the same or related tasks.

References:

• Always required. Demonstrating former child care related work experience.

Requirements:

• Criminal, background, sexual offender registry check.
• Completion of Safeguarding God’s Children training program within the first 30 days of employment.
• Normal work week: Sunday 4 hours; an occasional day, Monday through Saturday, 2-3 hours.
