Parker Meggitt is Hiring a Quality Technician Near Irvine, CA

The Quality Technician is responsible for technical support to the Quality Assurance Department and Inspection personnel. The position requires a technical background sufficient to assist in procedure development, drawing reviews and provide joint technical interface between Engineering and Manufacturing and coordinates with Purchasing for Supply Chain quality compliance.
  • Statistical process control (SPC) and Lean manufacturing implementation.
  • Knowledge of military and commercial specifications for materials, pumps/compressors, protective finishing, heat treating, and non-destructive testing.
  • ASME Y14.5M (dimensioning and tolerancing), ANSI/ASQC Z1.4 (sampling procedures and tables for inspection by attributes), MIL-STD-100 (engineering drawing practices), ANSI/NCSL Z540-3 (calibration systems requirements), FED-STD-H28 (screw thread standards).
  • Supporting interface/assistance to the Contracts and Purchasing departments.
  • AS9100/ISO 9001 Quality Management System Requirements.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.

Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Computer SkillsIBM PC and Microsoft Windows for Word, Power Point and Excel, PC Dims, Solidworks, CAD , QC 5000 CMM software or similar.
TOOLS/EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE
CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), Hardness tester, Optical comparator, Profilometer, Sine plate, calipers and micrometers, Height gages, Gage blocks, Precision measuring pins, Gear wires, Spline and thread gages, Scientific calculator, Dial indicators, Multi meter, Company van and Pallet jacks.
Required ExperienceHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); and One year certificate from college or technical school or equivalent training. 5 years experience in advanced inspection and other quality related positions. An ASQE Quality Engineer certificate is desired. Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university, or equivalent in Quality, Engineering or Technical a plus.
Experience includes implementation, training and the maintenance of an AS9100/ISO 9001 Quality Management System and must have a background in Quality Assurance and Manufacturing processes. Also requires experience in performing and assisting and organizing others in performing the inspection process. Must be well versed with standard inspection measuring equipment and 3-axis measuring machines. Also requires a working knowledge of military and commercial specifications for materials, protective finishing, heat treating, and non-destructive testing and experience in Military Aerospace Industry. ASQ Mechanical Inspector professional certification and machine shop experience preferred
