Job Description: Drafting legal documents, such as contracts and settlement agreements. Drafting court documents, such as motions and pleading. Conducting extensive legal research of applicable US and UK law and apply results to the facts of the case at issue. Drafting reports and legal opinions to domestic and foreign clients. Drafting communications, including to opposing counsel. Developing case strategies. Reviewing and analyzing legal documents, such as insurance policies and contracts. Must appear in office three (3) days per week; Work from home permissible two (2) days per week.Requirements: Juris Doctorate degree or foreign degree equivalent in Law or related field and two (2) years of progressive experience as Law Clerk/Associate Attorney or in the job offered or related role.SKILLS: Experience and/or education must include:
- Admission to practice law in California;
- Analysis of various state laws, including insurance codes and caselaw on the insurance related issues, relating to a variety of insurance policies such as general liability insurance policies and commercial insurance policies;
- Interpretation, analysis, and application of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, Federal Rules of Evidence, Uniform of Commercial Code, California Business and Professions Code, California Code of Civil Procedure, California Rules of Court, and California Insurance Code for insurance related issues;
- Perform claims analyses and state law analyses as well as create analysis and evaluation spreadsheets for insurance related issues utilizing Microsoft Excel;
- Research databases such as Westlaw or Lexis Nexis, in order to conduct legal research and legal analysis of the relevant caselaw, statutes, treatises, law journals, and law reviews to provide analysis and assessment of insurance related issues;
- Experience with document management systems in order to manage, archive, and organize all types of documents and data for a variety of claim files;
- Experience in discovery document databases to manage and analyze large volumes of data obtained through eDiscovery, identify sensitive information, and uncover relevant information accurately;
- Interpretation, analysis, and application of insurance policies as well as analysis and assessment of insurance policy disputes; and
- Track and manage billable and non-billable work efforts through a time tracking software.
