We're in search of a Social Studies Teacher to enhance our educational team. In this role, you'll deliver daily lessons in social sciences, concentrating on U.S. History, Economics/Government, and World History, along with other subjects as required or preferred. Your mission will be to closely guide students in mastering the curriculum and skills essential for their growth into well-rounded, competent, and responsible adults.

Our ideal candidate has a Bachelors’ degree (Masters' preferred) and Florida Department of Education Certification in Social Science (grades 6-12), coupled with an ESE/ESOL endorsement preferred. Understanding of various student needs and learning styles is essential in this role. You should be knowledgeable about best practices in education for high school students and familiarity with cooperative learning and assessment techniques.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, provides daily instruction within the field of social sciences to grades 9-12. Primary focus to be placed on U.S. History, Economics/Government, World History with other content as deemed necessary or desired. Help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaches in a manner that assists high school students in meeting rigorous instructional standards at both secondary and post-secondary levels.
  • Maintains a safe and effective classroom.
  • Administers learning style assessments and applying instructional strategies based on those results.
  • Integrates computer software and technology-based instruction appropriately.
  • Utilizes and applies the Florida Standards, Florida EOC Assessment Specifications, curriculum frameworks, college course objectives and student performance standards in planning effective instruction.
  • Maintains accurate records and complies with all reporting deadlines.
  • Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors’ degree and Florida Department of Education Certification in Social Science (grades 6-12).
  • Master’s degree in social sciences or master's degree with 18 graduate hours in social sciences preferred.
  • Additional degrees, certifications, or credentials including preferred.
  • Familiarity with cooperative learning and assessment techniques.
  • Knowledge of best practices in education for high school students
  • Bilingual a plus
  • ESE/ESOL endorsement preferred.
  • Understanding of various student needs and learning styles
  • Expertise in current instructional strategies and teaching methods
  • Requires occasional evening, weekend or other flexible scheduling of duties as specified by the Indiantown High School Executive Director or designee.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present verbal lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty (20) pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
