Position Summary:

Leads and oversees the development, implementation, and execution of the Owens & Minor Product & Healthcare Services (P&HS) Demand Planning processes. Works closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, finance, operations, supply chain, procurement, and marketing to generate demand plans with high forecast accuracy and low bias. Responsible for connecting the commercial and financial forecasts to the Demand Plan, working close to FPA, Marketing and Sales. Manages a team of Demand Planners and Analysts to assist with driving business decisions including informing forecasting, assumptions, risks and opportunities and New Product Launches. This role is instrumental in driving effective decision-making, improving forecast accuracy to enhance customer satisfaction and improve cash flow by minimizing the creation of inventory excess. This position will interact with external customers to build collaboration to create aligned demand plans.

Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes a clear demand planning strategy for the business and manages a high‐performing team charged with all aspects of demand planning.
  • Leads a Team of Demand Planners Responsible for Statistical Baseline Generation and Partners with Commercial & Finance teams to develop a thorough understanding of customer and market dynamics, trends, competition, strategies and tactics designed to drive demand forecasting process effectively and achieve business objectives.
  • Leads and prepares monthly Demand Review Meeting (DRM) process through a disciplined and time-sensitive process adherence methodology that incorporates performance metrics, the demand plan, risks and opportunities, comparison to financial and commercial forecasts, a 24-month horizon view, RAIL to be an effective decision-making process.
  • Drives individual demand reviews organized by region/category/customer or groups of customers/etc. Where market intelligence id added to statistical forecast in a cross-collaboration process. This includes highlighting business critical issues to Leadership, monitoring key metrics, and improvement plans where necessary.
  • Ensures the demand planning process is in place to deliver the business plan with operational excellence. Has process ownership building aligned plans for Product and Portfolio Management/Onboarding Pipeline, End of Cycle, Seasonality, new and lost businesses volume and New Product Launches.
  • Engages with commercial teams in resolving strategic demand issues through in-depth analysis and marketplace assessment to understand the risk/benefit tradeoffs between various approaches and opportunities.
  • Leads and supports sustainable process improvement by diagnosing complex business problems and providing recommended plans to deliver process improvements through the implementation of Lean Six Sigma Principles.
  • Responsible for direct supervision of Demand Planners and Analysts.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain Analytics, or related field. Master’s degree is a plus
  • 5 or more years in Demand Planning, Supply Chain in Medical Products is a plus.
  • 3 years in roles in Supply Chain/Operations with experience in transformation, people management, executive communication and driving organizational and cultural change.
  • Systems development, and project management experience required.
  • Demonstrated success on building strong teams, developing people and manage high performance individuals.
  • Being able to lead, sell, influence, and get support and adherence to the process. Creating a muti-functional environment to create one demand plan for the company/business.
  • Experience and ability to communicate clear messages to different levels in the organization, through strong presentation skills, including verbal, written and electronic presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating and working with external customers to align on demand plans, track performance and hold them accountable.
  • Extensive experience in Demand Planning systems. SAP IBP preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong Analytical Skills, Statistical and Forecasting and being able to explain assumptions, variations, gaps to plan.
  • Proven project management experience in facilitating the definition of business requirements and designing and implementing solutions, including processes, and managing change.
  • Ability to work effectively with many and varied functions.
  • Ability to identify emerging technologies and successfully apply them to critical business problems.
  • Ability to manage teams across multiple technology related disciplines.
  • Ability to develop and build succession Planning.
  • Ability to develop processes including requirements gathering and analysis design, selection of tools and technologies, release, and version control, testing methodologies and deployment management.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, persuasion, and conflict management skills; proven ability to serve as champion for multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to identify opportunities that lead to operational improvements and/or savings.
  • Self‐starter, ability to work independently and in a team setting involving multiple departments, partners, and business processes
