Cape Cod Healthcare is Hiring a Lab Manager Near Hyannis, MA
- Plans and oversees all operations of the Laboratory Department by managing the clinical laboratory Supervisors and their staff, providing assistance and direction regarding day-to-day operations
- Establishes department objectives, follows through to assure attainment, and evaluates performance in relation to objectives.
- Ensures adequate staffing levels and support necessary for operation of the department.
- Selects candidates for employment.
- Provides orientation, in-service and other educational programs.
- Provides counsel and guidance to staff and resolves problems and grievances.
- Maintains employee records.
- Conceives, initiates and implements department operating policies and standard operating procedures in accordance with the standards of CAP, TJC, DPH and other regulatory agencies.
- Develops department's annual operating and capital equipment budgets and assures department operates within allocated funds.
- Oversees the selection of capital equipment to ensure suitability with the needs and goals of the organization.
- Maintains departmental reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes.
- Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control programs.
- Develops standards of performance and performance evaluations.
- Initiates and maintains working relationships between Laboratory, medical staff and other departments of the hospital.
- Participates on hospital committees and attends meetings as required. Provides input at Laboratory Executive Team meetings. Maintains good communication with all other members of the management team throughout C-LAB that will enhance services.
- Maintains confidentiality of information deemed confidential.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Fosters a work ethic that places a premium value on customer service at all times.
- Performs other work related duties and activities as assigned or requested.
- Bachelor of Science Degree or Associate’s Degree and equivalent experience with focus in clinical and/or anatomic laboratories. Masters Degree preferred.
- 5 years progressively responsible hospital laboratory experience
- 3 years management/supervisory experience of a clinical or pathology laboratory setting
- (ASCP) or equivalent national certification or eligible
- Outstanding communication skills, excellent leadership ability, solid understanding of laboratory compliance issues and ability to use standard word processing and spreadsheet software.
