Position Overview
The position is a crucial member of the Professional Development and Continuing Education (PDCE) unit at KLETC. The Education Program Specialist provides logistical arrangements and support for program development and delivery, with oversight by the Education Program Manager. Creates materials for continuing education in support of instruction and service of the unit.
Job Description:
55% Training Support and Logistics:
· Prepares the marketing for law enforcement continuing education and specialized law enforcement seminars, courses, classes, workshops, schools and other training-related events being held at regional training sites across Kansas.
· Organizes the logistical arrangements for other law enforcement-related training events as identified by the management team.
· Distribution of weekly emails and monthly mailers of upcoming KLETC courses to statewide Kansas law enforcement agencies.
· Assists with on-campus training logistics, such as facility preparations, instructor support, and material handling for Hutchinson campus and regional sites.
· Creates lodging packets to include meal arrangements and facility rules/regulations for participants and instructors.
20% Facilities and Resource Management:
· Manages statewide training calendar entry requests.
· Serves as point of contact for food service vendor for catered events.
· Serves as point of contact for maintenance and custodial staff and submits maintenance requests on behalf of PDCE.
15% - Education Technology Management:
· Use of Enrole system to assist law enforcement customers with registration and troubleshooting, and housing accommodations.
· Understanding of systems and network operations, and applications.
· Understanding of educational and classroom technology.
· Periodically review the KLETC continuing education website training calendar for accuracy and ensuring that it is up-to-date.
10% - Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree plus one year of related professional experience or Associate’s degree plus three years of related professional experience or high school diploma plus five years of related professional experience;
2. Two years of experience with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software applications/technology;
3. Two years of experience organizing and managing multiple and varied tasks and projects as demonstrated by education, work history and application materials;
4. Excellent communication skills as evidenced by work history and application materials;
5. Valid Kansas driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience in the management of the training process or in the training and/or education of adults;
2. Knowledge of and/or experience in distance learning delivery mediums;
3. A demonstrated ability to work with members of the law enforcement community and/or professional law enforcement associations;
4. Demonstrated experience in coordinating remote training and/or events;
5. Experience working independently to achieve goals with minimal supervision;
6. Experiences working with diverse individuals, such as adult learners, faculty, administrators or professional groups;
7. Experience working effectively in a team environment and with deadlines and multiple, rapidly evolving priorities.
