SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Lead the Spectral Systems, LLC Quality and Compliance functions by maintaining and improving the existing Quality Management System (QMS) and managing the critical compliance programs. This role will also lead the development of cross site quality efforts as part of the overall Quality team of Omega Optical including our sites in Brattleboro, VT; Ayer, MA; and Ithaca, NY.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· As part of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at Spectral, responsible for achieving the monthly business performance of the Division, including key performance indicators of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth.
· Responsible for administering the QMS of two manufacturing locations (Hopewell Junction, NY and Jaffrey, NH) in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and successfully leading the yearly recertification program.
· Lead the effort to consolidate the Quality Management Systems at all of the current Omega Divisions (Spectral Systems, Omega Optical Filters, Evaporated Metal Films, and Optometrics) onto a single QMS system in collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team.
· Manage the Spectral Systems International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) Compliance Program
· Oversee the business processes that involve compliance and regulations (export/import, REACH, ROHS, etc.)
· Effectively manage / supervise the Quality Control team for Spectral Systems in a manner consistent with company values.
· Lead continual improvement efforts for core business processes including but not limited to Engineering Change Control, Customer Returned Material, Supplier Quality, Root Cause Analysis and Preventative Actions, documentation, internal auditing, and calibration.
· Use Quality Tools such as Six Sigma, 5-Why’s and 8-D reporting to lead cross functional problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts at Spectral as they relate to customer and internal product quality opportunities.
· Team with engineering, production, sales, supply chain management and other key stakeholders to effectively and efficiently transfer new product or processes from concept to production.
· Responsible for setting and achieving all monthly Quality Metrics and Goals and administering the Quality Department budget.
· Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Training: Required: A four-year degree in Technology or equivalent experience
Preferred: An MS degree in Engineering
Experience: Required: >=5 years of management experience in a high tech manufacturing environment
Preferred: >=5 years as Quality Leader for a company that manufactures or assembles optical components
Knowledge/Skills: Skilled at developing team synergy and coordinating team efforts
Ability to use basic SPC tools to collect data and evaluate product performance
Ability to perform quality audits and train quality auditors
Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and ITAR Compliance Requirements
Knowledge of military and industrial standards for optical components
Basic understanding of the physical nature of optical materials and optics
Working knowledge of equipment used to measure mechanical and optical properties of optical elements
Good verbal and written communication skills
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to work independently, while organizing and processing multiple tasks.
· Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet month-end deadlines
· Ability to travel as needed to support other sites, customers, and suppliers. (Estimate 20% of time)

Spectral Systems, LLC is a wholly owned business unit of Omega Optical Holdings based in Hopewell Junction, NY with a satellite office in Jaffrey, NH specializing in the design and manufacture of Infra-Red optical components for use in Life Science, Semiconductor, and Mil/Aero applications. The business was founded in 1983 and was acquired by Omega Optical in 2021.
