Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership, guidance and coordination for the Design department while maintaining working knowledge of day-to-day tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Conceptualize and design structures using Inventor and other CAD software
2. Maintain internal project scheduling and coordinate with project manager, sales, engineering, order processing and production
3. Review orders for accuracy and content prior to starting the design process
4. Assign scheduling estimates for design tasks
5. Communicate design information clearly and effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences that may include internal and external customers
6. Lead and participate in a team environment of open and active engagement
7. Train direct reports on new practices and procedures
8. Provide mentorship, training, and coaching for direct reports
9. Develop, implement and evaluate direct report performance plans
10. Identify and lead department improvement efforts
11. Actively work with quality to reduce nonconformances
12. Work effectively with other teams to improve products and processes
13. Apply all engineering specifications and procedures that are to be used on all Icon Shelter Systems, Inc. products
14. Utilize the customer requirements and the engineering calculations to provide correct and accurate submittal and fabrication part drawings
15. Create accurate Bill of Materials for manufacturing
16. Apply all drafting and CAD procedures as required to develop the product drawings
17. Provide help to other Drafters as required to get a project completed in a timely manner
18. Maintains employee efficiency and morale and harmonious employee relations
19. Performs performance appraisals, and makes decisions regarding personnel
20. Perform other related duties, as required

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Associate degree in Drafting and Design

Travel

This position requires minimal travel.

Computer Skills

• Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
• Demonstrated ability in Inventor 3-D software
• Demonstrated ability with AutoCAD software

Other Requirements

1. Experience in 3D Modeling
2. Demonstrated expertise in Icon Shelter Systems, Inc. design rules
3. Ability to perform and mentor others in processes of the department
4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
