Job Description :

As a Litigation Paralegal at Buckman MacDonald & Brown PC, you will be an integral part of our litigation team, assisting attorneys with case management, legal research, document preparation, and trial preparation. Your role will involve managing complex litigation cases, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared accurately and timely, and providing comprehensive support throughout the litigation process.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Case Management: Organize and maintain litigation case files, both physical and electronic. Track case deadlines and ensure timely filings and submissions.
  • Document Preparation: Draft, proofread, and format legal documents including pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and briefs. Assist in the preparation of court filings and ensure compliance with court rules.
  • Research: Conduct legal research using various resources and databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw). Summarize findings and prepare reports to assist attorneys in case preparation.
  • Discovery: Assist in all phases of discovery, including gathering, organizing, and reviewing documents, preparing discovery responses, and coordinating with clients and opposing counsel.
  • Trial Preparation: Prepare trial binders, exhibits, and witness lists. Assist attorneys with organizing and coordinating trial logistics.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and ensure their inquiries are addressed promptly and professionally.
  • Administrative Support: Manage attorneys’ calendars, schedule depositions and meetings, and handle incoming calls and correspondence.

Qualifications :

  • Education: Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or a related field. Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a litigation paralegal or in a similar role within a law firm.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Familiarity with legal research tools and databases (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and rules of civil procedure.
  • Experience with e-discovery tools and litigation support software is a plus.
