About The JobAs the Director of Sales, you will promote the diverse range of products offered by Stutsman’s Wholesale Hose and Valve Division to our customers. You have the opportunity to use your proactive and knowledgeable customer service and strong leadership skills to not only establish, but grow, a loyal customer base. Ideal candidates have strong skills in communication, relationship building, problem solving, and leadership. This is a salaried position with full-time hours, located in Hills, Iowa and reports directly to the Wholesale Hose and Valve Sales Division Head. This is a supervisory role to the division’s Territory Sales Managers.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead department processes such as setting sales targets, overseeing performance plans, monitoring rigorous and objective standards for sales representatives, and participating in sales call ride alongs
  • Ensure sales technologies, such as CRM, are routinely utilized among sales representatives, providing guidance in the event of a discrepancy
  • Continuously monitor industry competition, trends, and economic indicators and understand how they can be leveraged to improve sales effectiveness
  • Analyze data on sales results to identify and develop targeted strategies to address performance gaps
  • Develop sales strategies to actively acquire new customers or clients, including collaborating with marketing executives to develop lead generation plans
  • Determine and assign individual’s sales quotas, targets, and goals to ensure successful completion of department goals are achieved
  • Provide guidance to sales representatives through one-on-one coaching on phone work and prospecting help sessions, on a weekly basis, to improve overall sales performance
  • Plan and implement training programs to further sales representatives’ abilities, holding regular skills training sessions with internal or external sales trainers
  • Other Duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in hose product sales is required, experience in a supervisory or team leadership role is preferred
  • High school diploma required; college education and/or equivalent in relevant work experience is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Experience with HubSpot is preferred, but not required
  • Effective communication and customer service skills, for internal and external audiences
  • Ability to problem solve and pursue alternative solutions when necessary, allowing for prompt completion of work
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to demonstrate effective relationship skills that can be used to develop and motivate teams
  • Up to 20% of time spent traveling to key customers and riding along with sales representatives anticipated
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
