General Description

The Executive Director of Operations serves as the senior leader of operations and resources and coordinates actions across the organization to further an effective ministry and fulfillment of church’s mission, vision, values and strategic plan. In conjunction with the Executive Team, she/he is responsible for directing the church’s business activities and responsibilities including financial oversight, facilities management, administration, office management, human resources, and communications with sound business practices and Christian caring.

Key Responsibilities

  • Legal/Contracts: Creates and maintains current emergency plans for the church in the event of lawsuit, physical threat, or other unwanted events.
  • Administration/HR: Works closely with the Director of Administration and HR to ensure that HR policies and practices are current, abiding within state and federal laws, and comply with industry standards.
  • Provides leadership, oversight and direction for all operations staff and conducts their annual reviews. Helps operations staff align with St. Andrew’s vision and mission.
  • Finance: Working closely with the Finance Director, responsible for managing all church financial assets and liabilities, and ensuring compliance with bank requirements and adequate financial controls.
  • Budget Development/Management: Leads annual budget development with input by senior staff and Executive Team. In support of this effort, provides current and historical income and expense data at the start of each year’s budget development process. Helps ministry and operational leaders plan and adapt their activities and expenses when needed. Working closely with the Finance Director, provides monthly financial reports, metrics, trends, and forecasting data to Governing Board.
  • Preschool: Resource Preschool Director and provide budget development, Director oversight, goal setting, and strategic planning.
  • Facilities: Guides Facilities Director to ensure that buildings and grounds are well maintained and support ministry use. Provides high-level oversight to long-term facility planning and capital needs.
  • Technology/IT: Manage acquisition, use and regular maintenance of all office equipment including, but not limited to computer hardware and software systems. Oversees IT by ensuring that data and media systems in both the office and throughout the building facilitate the ministry that depends on them.
  • Governing Board/Trustees: Working with the Board of Trustees, provide direction for overall church operation of the facility, including planning, coordinating, scheduling or modification to the building and grounds. Works closely with the Governing Board keeping them informed of key issues and progress in support of the church’s vision and strategic plan.
  • Facility Usage/Rentals: Provides guidance and policies related to the use of church facilities ensuring that they are used in ways that align with the church’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Insurance/Policies/Risk Management: Oversees Risk Management by ensuring that policies for building use, emergency response, and child protection are up-to-date and implemented and that appropriate commercial insurance is held. Serves as primary contact with local public safety officials.
  • Investments: Tracks investment portfolios and assets, with consideration to forecasting and strategies.
  • Evaluate regularly the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives.
  • Manage relationships/agreements with external partners/vendors.
  • Have a passion for the mission, vision, and values of St. Andrew, and the ability to work alongside and support the vision of the Executive Team and congregational leaders, fostering an environment in which all are encouraged to explore their gifts to achieve optimal team results.
  • Be capable of maintaining confidences, effectively listening and communicating, and resolving conflicts.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Executive leadership experience in the business world, minimum 10 years experience, preferred in a church or non-profit organization.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Advanced computer skills with knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong organizational skills

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

Flexibility to work after normal office hours and on weekends

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Business related field or equivalent experience

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced office environment

SALARY RANGE

$90,000 - $120,000 Commensurate with experience and education.
