Rifenburg is Hiring a Construction Surveyor Near Herkimer, NY

SUMMARY:

Surveyor obtains land survey data, such as angles, elevations, points, and contours, using electronic distance measuring equipment and other surveying instruments. Places and recovers markings, stakes and other such signifiers at work locations. Compiles notes, sketches, and records of survey data obtained and work performed. This position will mainly perform work in the Syracuse Area. Other travel may be required to various worksites. NYS Prevailing Wage and Cash Fringes paid. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The list below is illustrative and is not a comprehensive list of all duties that may be assigned.

• Determines layout strategies in cooperation with the Survey Manager, Project Superintendent and Project Manager. May include foundations, above ground piping, underground utilities, excavations, equipment setting, grading, etc.
• Reads and interpret project drawings and construction plan documents to determine layout requirements of project
• Contribute to reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for project
• Efficiently operates survey equipment including robotic total station, levels, GPS equipment, and 3D laser scanner
• Performs Quality Control inspection of layout(s)
• Maintains accurate, legible organized records in accordance to all Operations and Work Instructions

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

Advanced Degree or Accreditation from a technical or trades program and 5 years Land Surveying experience required.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Thorough knowledge of effective practices, methods, techniques, and equipment of land surveying
• Strong organizational and prioritizing skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Efficient verbal and written communication
• Accurate data entry and accurate calculation of mathematical problems
• Working Knowledge of surveying equipment and layout software
• Ability to read and understand project drawings and specifications. Ability to visualize a layout by looking at plans and prints
• Higher level, complex analysis and interpretation required for problem solving
• Ability to work with teams and other divisions
• Independent judgment required using existing guidelines to determine work methods
