Understudy is seeking a talented and dedicated Head Baker to lead our bakery team! As the Head Baker, you will oversee the creation of delicious baked goods and pastries, ensuring exceptional quality and innovation in every batch.

Under the guidance of Executive Chef Philip Tessier and Director of Operations Justin Williams, Understudy is committed to excellence in culinary arts and providing our community with exceptional food experiences. Be a part of the creative team behind Michelin-starred PRESS Restaurant as we open Understudy, a playful, modern patisserie and cafe showcasing both our craft and local ingredients.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and execute recipes for a variety of baked goods and pastries, including breads, cakes, and desserts.
• Lead and mentor bakery staff to maintain high standards of quality, consistency, and creativity.
• Manage inventory, ordering, and stock control for bakery ingredients and supplies.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards in the bakery.
• Collaborate with the culinary team to develop seasonal and specialty bakery offerings.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Head Baker or similar role in a bakery setting.
• Expertise in baking techniques, ingredient functionality, and recipe development.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and train bakery staff.
• Attention to detail and a passion for crafting exceptional baked goods.
• Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
