Clinical instructor
DEPARTMENT: SCHOOL
REPORT TO: ADMINISTRATOR
DUTIES:
The clinical instructor will meet students at the designated clinical sites.The Clinical instructors provide students with knowledge and skills related to patient care in a clinical setting. The primary responsibility of a clinical instructor is to teach and coach nursing students in delivering the best possible patient care, while also providing guidance and support for their educational development. Clinical instructors must be able to identify and assess the level of understanding of subjects and patient care needs with each student. They must monitor the progress of students to ensure success in the program, and also be patient and understanding towards those who struggle with material and patient care related issues.
Requirements:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in nursing.(Master’s degree preferred.)
Must have a minimum of two years of experience in a clinical setting
A minimum of 5 years work experience as a Registered Nurse.
Must have a valid nursing license in the State of NY.
Evidence of continuing education and/or professional development in the field.
Demonstrable the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Excellent patience, problem-solving,and decision-making skills.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge-based experience of nursing theory and clinical practice.
A broad knowledge in classroom instruction and teaching methods.
Computer proficiency in applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of ATI is a plus.
