United Way of South Central Nebraska is Hiring a Director of Development Near Hastings, NE

This is a full time position of 40 hours per week on a flexible schedule. This position has primary responsibility for securing sufficient funds to realize the Board’s goals and objectives.

The success of United Way of South Central Nebraska’s reputation and ultimate ability to achieve its vision of “sustainability” rests on the cultivation of branding, donors, donor trust, confidentiality, and effective communications. This position requires creativity and innovation and a close working relationship with the Executive Director, Collaborative Coordinator and Board of Directors.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet the organization's financial goals and objectives. This includes creating annual fundraising plans, identifying new funding opportunities, and diversifying revenue streams.

2. Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Cultivate relationships with current and prospective donors, including individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies. Establish and maintain strong relationships to maximize donor engagement, satisfaction, and long-term support. Coordinate donor recognition and stewardship activities.

3. Major Gifts and Planned Giving: Develop and implement strategies to solicit major gifts and planned giving from individuals and organizations. Build and maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects, cultivate relationships, and secure substantial donations to support the organization's initiatives.

4. Fundraising Events: Plan and execute fundraising events, including campaign events and donor recognition events. Coordinate event logistics, recruit and manage volunteers, and work with the marketing team to promote events and attract attendees.

5. Board and Volunteer Engagement: Collaborate with the Board of Directors to engage their networks and support fundraising efforts. Provide guidance and support to board members in their individual fundraising efforts. Recruit, train, and motivate volunteers to participate in fundraising activities.

6. Collaboration and Communication: Foster strong relationships and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. Collaborate with colleagues to align fundraising efforts with organizational priorities and develop compelling messaging and materials.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Calls on donors regularly for updates, increased commitments, and volunteer opportunities.

2. Coordinate media relations including press releases and consistent communication with television, radio and print medias.

3. Schedules regular presentations to service clubs, community groups and potential funding organizations, both off and on-site. Provides consistent messages to educate and recruit new support.

4. Solicits in-kind goods and services as needed.

5. Responsible for saying Thank You on a timely basis to donors.

6. Monitors compliance with donor gift intent.

7. Communicates with outstanding pledge holders as they complete pledge obligations.

8. Participates in long range planning and annual budgeting.

9. Organizes communications and materials for solicitation.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Associate’s degree with experience may be accepted.

2. Proven experience in fundraising, development, or related roles in the non-profit sector.

3. Strong track record in securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships.

4. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

5. Excellent writing skills, particularly in grant writing and proposal development.

6. Knowledge of fundraising best practices, donor cultivation strategies, and fundraising event management.

7. Familiarity with donor management systems and fundraising software.

8. Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

9. Passion for the mission of United Way of South central Nebraska and commitment to community development.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $62,500.00 per year
