CLEVELAND CLIFFS is Hiring a Senior Manager Payroll Near Harbor, IN

Summary Of ResponsibilitiesCleveland-Cliffs is seeking to fill the position of Senior Manager Payroll. This position will report to the Senior Director Shared Services and be responsible for managing payroll activities including but not limited to processing payroll, leading/supporting payroll related projects, directing management of day-to-day payroll activities. The position will have primary focus in the areas of payroll processing, project management, systems implementations and process improvement. The individual's responsibilities would include but not limited to the following:
  • Assist in development of the strategic direction for payroll.
  • Effectively manage diverse staff including hiring, training, and staff development.
  • Provide support to both internal and external customers to ensure requests and daily requirements are met in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage payroll related audit requests.
  • Define system processes and structures to adhere to regulatory and financial requirements including but limited to tax and GAAP.
  • Identify and implement process changes to support continuous process improvement.
  • Lead or partner in systems implementation projects relating to attendance to gross, gross-to-net, benefits, compensation, and / or HR.
  • Develop and maintain process and / or project documentation to ensure compliance to internal and external controls.
  • Ensure systems and processes are designed with effective controls and appropriate segregation of duties.
  • Manage day-to-day payroll and payroll processing activities.
  • Any other duties as may be required or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field.
  • At least five (5) years of experience managing payroll and ten (10) years of total experience.
  • Prior experiencing processing and supporting payroll.
  • Strong analytical skillset, detail oriented and ability to manage cross functional teams.
  • Project management experience either leading or significantly participating in systems implementations.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, good communication skills, and general business aptitude.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in accounting, finance, business, etc.
  • CPP Certification.
  • Experience with union contracts / agreements.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment.
