OverviewAnimal Care Center is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to enhance the lives of our exotic and companion animal patients!

Pet Care Center: 799 Campbell Rd, Ponchatoula, LA 70454
Compensation$11-17/hr
***CREDENTIALED POSITIONS ALSO AVAILABLE!***
Shift DetailsFull-Time (36-40 hours/week)
4 (9.5 hour shifts) days during the week
<4 hours on Sunday every 4-6 weeks
Clinic HoursM-Th 7:00am-5:30pm
F 7:00am-5:00pm
Sat 7:00am-4:00pm
Animal Care Center is a full service veterinary hospital providing many services to clients including surgery, medicine, grooming, and boarding. For over 36 years we have proudly served the Northshore Community. Our mission is to provide you and your pet the very best veterinary care in a professional and compassionate manner. We take pride in our facility and team of dedicated staff.
*** 2 years or more experience is preferred. Must have experience with restraint, pulling blood, placing IV catheters, taking x-rays, dental cleanings, monitoring surgery patients, collecting Vitals, Medical note taking, record keeping.***

- Assist in all daily duties for clinic care.
- Participate in any special cleaning duties.
- Provide client care by scheduling appointments, taking payments, and check-ins.
- Maintain excellent client communication.
- Record all pertinent medical, client and case related information in the patient record accurately with appropriate grammar, terms, and accurate information.
- Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients.
- Answer the phones in a courteous and informative way.
- Provide patient care under the direction of a DVM.
- Must be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from but not limited to laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing skills.
- Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
- The employee must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
- The employee must also be confident around pets.
