Job Summary

IBJI Certified Athletic Trainers (ATC) are an integral part of a fast-paced orthopedic practice, that must excel in IBJI’s core values of patient-centric care, musculoskeletal care, and teamwork. The role of the ATC functions as a liaison between the patients, physicians, physical therapists, and clinical support staff. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: managing day-to-day needs of a specific physician’s practice, providing superior care to patients and clients, providing athletic training coverage at various contracted events, and educating the public on injury and other health-related awareness/prevention topics. All responsibilities should be performed while maintaining the highest standard of care and integrity in order to provide the best patient experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Promote excellent patient care.
  • Demonstrate clear and effective communication skills to patients to education their plan of care.
  • Develop positive relationships with the physician teams at IBJI
  • Communicate with physicians, clinical staff, and parents regarding patients’ conditions, treatments, and protocols.
  • Develop rehabilitation and treatment regimens in conjunction with physician recommendations.
  • Proper referral of patients for appropriate diagnostic and follow-up procedures and subsequent injury tracking.
  • Compliance with completing daily paperwork and maintain patient EHRs.
  • Participates in programs sponsored by IBJI: clinical meetings, mentoring, clinical educator, special interest groups, community outreach.
  • Prevention, recognition, evaluation, triage, rehabilitation, and reconditioning of all athletic injuries for patients and athletes of varying ages.
  • Demonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics
  • Independently schedule and perform DME brace fitting and educate patients with proper donning and doffing.
  • Outreach ATCs will be required to provide medical coverage at outside games, practices and/or tournaments. These events will be scheduled with the Athletic Training Program Coordinator and may include weekend and/or evening events.
  • Return voicemail and email messages from patients and clinical staff in a timely manner.
  • Attend continuing education seminars to keep Illinois license in good standing.
  • Always follow HIPAA/OSHA guidelines and regulations.
  • Other duties may be assigned at any time by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Athletic Training Program
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Hold or eligible for Illinois Licensure as an Athletic Trainer in good standing.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with DME fitting and application.
  • Ability to lift greater than 25 pounds
  • Demonstrates good understanding of proper body mechanics for lifting, pulling, pushing
  • Ability to be stand and sit for sequences of time greater than 30 minutes
  • Ability to work on a computer for lengthy times during the day
