- Ability to implement and instruct established Grosse Pointe Curriculum
- Includes culturally diverse themes in lessons and instruction, including historical or other information as to cultures having significant impact on the world, nation or community.
- Conducts assessments and evaluations in accordance with family and student rights;
- Addresses the needs of the school, student, families, and community by collaborating with team members from the schools;
- Promotes family support of students’ learning experience within the context of multicultural understanding and competencies;
- Provides services to students in ways that build upon individual strengths and offers students maximum opportunities to participate in the planning and direction of their own learning experience;
- Maintains accurate case records and documentation;
- Maintains current knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations and abides by said laws and regulations with emphasis on persons with disabilities, child welfare, mental health, confidentiality, and student and parent rights;
- Organizes time, resources, energy, and workload in order to meet responsibilities;
- Utilizes research and technologies to assist students, families, schools, and communities;
- The SSW will prioritize supporting students with disabilities, while supporting the MTSS process when possible;
- The SSW will conduct, implement, and analyze student Functional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.
- Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to assist students who have physical difficulties.
- Occasional bending, kneeling, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs.
- Prolonged periods sitting and working on the computer to complete necessary paperwork.

- The successful candidate must meet State standard for a clear criminal history and provide mandated fingerprint clearance.
